2017 Student Poster & Paper Competition

On April 6, 2017 IMAGIN hosted 18 undergraduate posters and three graduate paper presentations as students vied for scholarship monies.  While braving some unique Michigan weather, students converged on Lansing Community’s College’s West Campus.   The morning saw the undergraduate poster display which was held in conjunction with the State of Michigan’s GIS User Group meeting.  Students had the opportunity to compare their work to other posters from around the state and also partake in a professional meeting that draws GIS professionals from around the region.  This year, IMAGIN secured $1,000 of purse money to be distributed to the winners of the poster competition.  The judges broke the posters up into two categories: posters that utilize GIS, and poster that utilize remote sensing.

In the afternoon, three graduate level students presented their work to our judge panel.  The top three paper finishers receive a complimentary IMAGIN membership, registration to our annual conference, and the opportunity to present their work at the conference.  The first place finisher also receives a $1,000 scholarship.  The results from the paper competition are below:
