West Michigan GIS User Group Meeting

The next West Michigan GIS Users Group meeting will be Tuesday October 11th, at noon at the Grand Valley Metro Council (GVMC) .   GVMC  will provide a pizza lunch and Andy Henry will be presenting a synopsis of the NSF GRACE Program.

Andy Henry is a  GIS and multimedia consultant for Wayne Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA), in Wayne, MI

Below is a summary of what Andy will be presenting on:

 · The project goals, structure, and partners
· The roles of the main partners: EMU, DTMB, MiCAMP and MVU
· A brief overview of professional development component for teachers
· An introduction to student internship component, including
· The coursework students complete before they apply for internships;
· Examples of the kinds and quality of work interns in the program are currently producing
· Locations where intern candidates are available
· Recommended duration of an internship
· Approximate cost of intern, and opportunities for funding support
· How to apply to host an internship
How to become a GRACE Geomentor to support teachers and students learning GIS in Michigan
